FIPS 140-2 Compliant WLAN Security Suite Announced By 3e Technologies International

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

ROCKVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2003--3e Technologies International, Inc. (3eTI) today announced its new FIPS 140-2 Compliant, 3e WLAN Security Suite.
The 3e WLAN Security Suite is comprised of several models of the company's leading smart wireless gateways and access points, an 802.11b extended range PC card along with Crypto Client software, Security Server Software, and an RF Manager. The 3e WLAN Security Suite has been tested and proven compliant with the Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 (FIPS 140-2).
This complete suite of end-to-end wireless networking solutions provides users with an easy to install and manage high security WLAN.
The 3e WLAN Security Suite provides users with the following advantages over a traditional Virtual Private Network (VPN):

-- Distributed encryption handled by multiple smart APs vs. a centralized VPN server
-- Ease of configuration, maintaining existing network topology
-- Seamless connectivity with single login
-- Since encryption is done at the driver level, the Crypto Client prevents known Trojan software attacks
-- Strong and proven security (Advanced Encryption Standard -AES, 3DES) plus Dynamic Key Generation, per session
-- Low cost Security Server Software with built in 802.1x/EAP-TLS
-- Crypto Client Driver Software with no extra per client charge, unlike VPN solutions that often require purchase of software per client device.

3eTI meets U.S. Government DoD and Enterprise requirements for the highest levels of wireless networking security with this new innovative family of Secure Wireless Gateways/Access Points and Secure Client solutions. 3eTI's Wireless Gateways implement leading cryptographic technologies including: AES, 3DES, SHA-1, HMAC SHA-1, 802.1x/EAP-TLS, Diffie-Hellman, RSA, and HTTPS/TLS.
The 3e WLAN Security Suite is implemented in an innovative manner so that critical performance is not sacrificed in providing a rugged FIPS 140-2 Level 2 highly secure wireless solution.
FIPS 140-2 compliance for the 3e WLAN Security Suite includes the 3e-521NP Wireless Gateway, 3e-530NP Wireless Gateway, and 3e-522FIPS Wireless Gateway along with the:

-- 3e-010F Crypto Client, a software component installed to
provide encryption and authentication on all wireless network
client PCs.

-- 3e-110 WLAN PC Card, a 802.11b PCMCIA Extended Range card

-- 3e-030 Security Server software that creates, distributes, and
manages dynamic per session keys for each user, each time they
log on to the network. The Security Server also authenticates
all users by distributing and managing their individual
certificates.

Additionally, the 3e WLAN Security Suite features radio frequency (RF) management that allows the adjustment of WLAN RF output power level from 0 up to 200 milliwatts, providing both an increased coverage range and finer RF power control.
The 3e WLAN Security Suite provides the following cryptographic operations:

-- AES for wireless (802.11b) encryption

-- 3DES for wireless (802.11b) encryption

-- 802.1x / EAP-TLS for authentication

-- HMAC SHA-1 for keyed authenticated firmware upgrade

-- Diffie-Hellman and RSA for Key Exchange

-- HTTPS/TLS for web service

Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 (FIPS 140-2) is a standard, published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which describes U.S. Federal Government requirements for IT products to meet Sensitive but Unclassified (SBU) use.
The standard defines the security requirements that must be satisfied by cryptographic technologies used in wireless security solutions that protect unclassified information. FIPS 140-2 evaluation is required for any wireless products that are sold to the U.S. Federal Government.
