Can the Tech-Job Drain Be Stopped?

The business case for moving high-pay technical jobs to labor markets with lower wages is compelling. So compelling, in fact, that many of the giants of the computer hardware and software industries have embraced offshore outsourcing with enthusiasm. Why pay a programmer US$40,000 to $70,000 per year, goes the argument, when the same work can be had for $5,000 per year from a highly skilled coder in India?
