This article takes a step further, to answer the question 'Who will control my children's inheritance if I die.' Generally speaking, a child under the age of eighteen cannot own property or assets in excess of $5,000. As such, if a parent leaves more than this amount to a child, and if such 'inheritance' is not protected by a trust, it is likely that a conservatorship will be established to manage the funds.
