“Dude, that is not what we should do! We don’t earn money from people texting…we are only successful when our clients are.” This is the way the conversation used to go with almost all of my friends and family that hadn’t quite grasped what it is we do. That was until recently.
It’s not that I blame them because of not “getting it”. Text Marketing has only recently emerged because the defacto marketing medium for small to medium-sized business owners. It’s an industry that didn’t even exist some time ago, but now it’s literally exploding before our eyes.
Why provides the trend caught on so quickly? What exactly is so appealing about text marketing?
There is a simple answer to these questions. They are: Value and Access.
Value is definitely an arbitrary concept determined by every person, however with text message marketing that value may be quantified from the results the company owner receives and through the amount of subscribers each text message alert campaign has. That value of each marketing strategy can be tracked and stacked against all other marketing efforts and the results ensure it is clear to the company owner, there is absolutely no better method to market and advertise.

We have an older brother who may be extremely sharp in operation; he’s adequately known and considered a professional running a business launch inside the technology industry. You will think that he’s the type of guy you think would catch this text message marketing concept from a mile away and would then possess a million then one applications for it.

What made him finally see it? He had walked right into a Chick-fil-A cafe or restaurant and saw a table tent that said Text CFA to 411247 to obtain Freebies and Special Offers. He tried it, and the light came on!
Obviously I went on to describe to him that email to sms gmail was great for that application. The client gets immediate value and also the business gets unprecedented access to the customer’s most personal communication device, their cellular phone.
But that’s not where story ends…Texting has become used in almost every aspect of business and it’s embraced by 1000s of organizations to generate community, mobilize people, drive traffic to events and websites, spend less, provide user generated content like weather reports and movie show times. I actually have been astounded and blown away through the results businesses have when they use text messaging to enhance their marketing efforts. I’ve had the ability to personally listen to business people throughout the country that have used message marketing to increase sales, drive traffic, communicate better, they are truly by using this technology to dzflri their businesses. What began as a method for any pizza shop to send its weekly special to some database has evolved into the best and effective marketing medium on the planet.
One thing I have observed from the beginning is the always on factor in the mobile phone. There are numerous of things which are driving this industry and many reasons companies are adopting text message marketing in their marketing strategy, but certainly two factors emerge as beacons which should have the light come on for you personally. They are Value and Access.
